Moldovagaz JSC together with regional gas distribution companies initiated a program for deployment of an Advanced Gas Metering system. 30,000 smart gas meters were upgraded in Chisinau, the capital of Moldova, during the first stage of the project which was accomplished in 2020. The project was deployed by Chisinau-Gas, a local gas distribution company. During the project, 30,000 existing gas meters were connected to NB-Fi modems.
The company explained that the deployment of the Advanced Gas Metering system is aimed at improving the quality of services provided to consumers.
The deployment of the new Advanced Gas Metering system will increase the accuracy of gathering the readings, and consumers will pay exactly for the gas that they actually used.
"Manual reading of the consumption data by a service controller every month will no longer be required. Consumers will not worry about submitting their consumption data to the gas distribution company."
The NB-Fi modems were installed inside the flats and houses, near the gas meters: in the basements, kitchens or boiler rooms. The Advanced Gas Metering solution by WAVIoT allowed bringing the traditional metering devices online and avoiding replacement of the existing gas meters.
With this project, WAVIoT has proved usability, scalability and reliability of its LPWAN technology. Moldovagaz JSC wil continue to retrofit the existing gas meters to connect them to the Advanced Gas Metering system.
